Starting at $400, the Surface Go tablet competes with the iPad in a BIG way. • It's not worth it for me and I don't recommend the Surface Go because it comes preloaded with the bad Windows 10 S! Don't buy it!

  • Anyone tried playing Minecraft on it? The cross-platform one I mean. Does it work well?

  • I really want the surface go for grade 8 but our school only allows laptops 11 inches or bigger. It’s a great laptop and would be perfect for uni or college but I can’t use it at my school. I’m really disappointed. I can still get a hp pavilion x360 which has a better processor but is less portable at 14 inches and triple the weight of the surface go. I would really love the surface go but I am fine settling with a hp pavilion.

  • I picked up an used Surface Pro 4 with the m3 and 128gb SSD with Keyboard and Pen for 550€. It is totally fine and the Screen is bigger than the one from the Go. I think i wouldn't be as happy with the go, because its to little for windows.

  • No its not. With the keyboard, it becomes really expensive. If this is to be your second device, I would prefer a cheaper Chromebook.

  • He reviewed the $550 Surface Go. It kind of seems like Microsoft is doing a bait and switch. They sent the higher end Surface Go out to all of the bloggers while heavily advertising the price at $399. This is kind of misleading too because I don't think many consumers would want to use the Surface as a touch only device while the majority of Apple users use their iPads as touch only devices. So really that $400 surface go is a lot closer to $500.

  • I'm quite tempted to buy a Surface Go. It's good that you have a windows device that you can use on the go while being light weight and also nice if you like reading PDFs or E-books.

  • Austin I really like your videos but I feel there's like almost a reporter voice that once I noticed it I couldn't stop it being annoying. I can't really explain it but it's like a voice drop every sentence, you start every sentence super excited and slowly the emotion goes down until next sentence it goes back up again and back down again. Petty complaint I'm aware but now that I tuned into it I can not tune it back out.

  • What makes it any better than the terrible atom windows 2-in-1s of yesteryears?

    Reply
  • CPU is not noticeably faster than the Atom. Super bloated and inefficient Windows 10 feels sluggish. Web browsing feels laggy. Forget doing any general purpose computing, its purely a consumption device. Track pad is as bad as the rest of the Surface line.

    Reply
  • another overpriced surface device since 64Gb of storage is useless in windows and 128 isn't enough for alot of us now (SD cards arn't system storage). Microsoft then adds insult to injury by having a pentium in a $550 tablet without the needed type cover and pen so the package it should be is closer to $800 all in and that just unacceptable for the specs in it. it has front speakers and the ports are good enough for most people but the broken hinge netbook design is stupid to me and the kickstand is ridiculous give me a proper keyboard dock with a battery and a precision touch pad this is a gimmick at best and a over priced nightstand tablet at worst .

  • Had 2 Surfaces Pro 4s, both electrocuted my arm when drawing. Battery couldn’t make it through half the day. Screen began to separate from the body of the device. Microsoft sent a replacement unit that was covered in scratches with another faulty screen. Both devices overheated regularly. Once I got my third replacement I was zapped again and sold it for an IPad Pro, which is miles above the Surface. Never again.

  • Actually want one for myself. Windows on a smaller package means full excel in a smaller package, yes please. Ports? Damn yes please. What I am worried about is the apps. If it uses the full fledged Windows programs then it's going to be slow for my day to day use. If it uses tablet like apps then we'd be very limited. If it has as much tablet-apps as the iPad then this is an easy buy. But no. (for example, lightroom, easy on the tablet, heavy on a pc)

  • it's probably for the kids more then for adults. Just like the ipad pro 9.7. Only that compare the microsoft store and itunes and app store are better with more apps for it. at the same time, you can use mouse and keyboard for the surface go. While, you have to go through loops to use a mouse for the ipad. Even if you're gaming light, you can probably pair an xbox or ps4 controller but you can't do that with ipad. Unless, you go third party. You can also install kodi and retroarch on it for entertainment but again, you'll have to go through loops just to play retro games on the ipad. The iPad might be more powerful but the surface go are a little more freedom. :p

  • LIAR! YOU’RE REVIEWING A $550 PRODUCT IN A VIDEO ABOUT A $400 PRODUCT. The 8 GB / 128 GB model is not an iPad competitor; it;s just a bad tablet that doubles as almost unusable laptop (without another $100-$275 of accessories) but it runs full Microsoft Excel so statisticians and others in the Excel niche have to choose between this and other Windows laptops. The 4GB/64GB model is an iPad competitor, and a bad one, because doing several things at once causes noticeable stuttering where the iPad doesn’t miss a beat, and the iPad has a nicer design and lower price tag, and uses iOS instead of the mess that is Windows.

  • I can't believe the 2018 iPad is so fast - significantly faster than the Go on Geekbench 4 in both single and multiple core modes. The iPad 2018 is even close to the single core Surface Pro 2017 score. What hath Apple wrought? Still, the iPad 2018 and Pro don't support trackpads or mice, won't run full-fledged Chrome Browser. So I give the nod to Go as quite possibly the best "compact" and the 2018 iPad as definitely the best iPad ever (I think when you factor in the cost effectiveness, the 2018 iPad beats both of the Pros in relative, if not absolute, terms) (and I say "best iPad ever" instead of "best tablet" because, well, the Go is a tablet that matches it in screen quality, the Surface 4 is still king of the roost, and I haven't given up on Android yet; also because, let's face it, iPads exist in a niche of their own). For use at home, I'll stick with my 2017 iPad, which is still fast as slick, and has a tablet "fun factor" far in excess of any other touch screen device. For use on the road, I would like to upgrade my Surface 3 (not the Pro) with type cover to the Surface Go, even though that means giving up .8" of screen space. Your unasked question: do I prefer 16*9, 16*10, 4*3 (iPad), or 3*2 (Surface Pro/Go)? Answer: the iPad for comix, the Pro/Go for a good compromise between "book" dimensions (works well in portrait mode not just landscape mode) and "HDTV" widescreen dimensions (much less letterboxing at the expense of screen height that is too short on a 10" screen to view webpage content).

For real use, buy a 2-1 laptop instead, Like a Lenovo Flex 6 14in 8gb 256ssd, selling cheap at staples right now under $600 (Worth It). Usual sell is $799
